Betty Jean Grady, age 89, passed away on Tuesday January 18, 2022 after a period of
declining health. She was born to the late Walter Hayes and Grace (Bradley) Knight on
May 30, 1932 in Atlanta, Georgia. Jean was a member of McConnell Memorial Baptist
Church where she was a member of the Choir for many years. In addition, she was a
long-time member of The Joyful Sounds, a local community choir. Mrs. Grady was a
graduate of West Fulton High School and an active member of the Owls Club alumni
association. She was also a member of the Civil Air Patrol Georgia. As an avid quilter
she worked in the quilting and craft booths at the Georgia Mountain Fair. She also
enjoyed wood carving, cross stich, gardening and canning. She was a devoted wife,
mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. Mrs. Grady was a kind person to all, but
above all else she was a faithful believer in Jesus Christ. Mrs. Grady is preceded in
death by her husband Ralph Grady; sister Mary Hughes; brother Rev. Bradley Knight
and son-in-law Bill Kendall. She is survived by her daughters Melody (Kirk) Elliott,
Sheila Kendall; son Lamar (Mary) Grady; grandchildren Ryan Kendall, Annett Parmer,
John Grady, Elizabeth Williams, Tyler Kendall, Jessica Williams and thirteen great-
grandchildren. She also leaves behind nieces, nephews, extended relatives and many
friends.
Visitation: Sunday, January 23, 2022 at Banister-Cooper Funeral Home 1:00PM until
3:00PM
There will be scripture reading and prayer at three o’clock.
