Charles Michael West

Charles Michael West, age 72, of Hiawassee, passed away on Friday, June 23, 2023 at Chatuge Regional Hospital. He was born in Smyrna, Georgia to the late Charles and Francis (Mitchell) West on January 14, 1951. Charles was a butcher for many years before retiring. He was a funny, selfless, humble and kind man. He was the Scataway Santa for many years, bringing joy and love to all the children who visited the Christmas lights. He also enjoyed hunting, fishing, camping and going to auction. Charles loved his family deeply.

He is preceded in death by his parents, Charles and Francis West; wife, Paulette Owenby West; and brother, Edward West. He is survived by his son and daughter-in-law, Michael and Lisa West; grandchildren, Colton and wife Caitlyn West, Caylyn and husband Dylan Carmichael; brother, Harold West; and sister and brother-in-law, Sharon and Larry Stephens.
