Dennis Joseph Barry

Dennis Joseph Barry Sr., 79, of Hiawassee, Georgia, entered into eternal rest on Sunday, August 27th, 2023. 

An ordained minister, over the years Dennis shared his faith through music and sermon. He led a nursing home ministry, bringing church services to many who would have otherwise been unable to attend. 

A devoted husband, father, grandfather and great grandfather, he was unwavering in his stalwart example to those around him. 

Music played a big part in his life, from being a professional drummer in his younger days, to later becoming an accomplished guitarist and singer. He wrote a great number of songs about his faith that he performed for large and intimate audiences. 

The outdoors brought him peace; one of his favorite activities was dropping his fishing line into the water from shore or boat. Hunting was another passion of his. His kind heart, playful spirit, and sense of humor will be deeply missed by family and friends. 

Born on October 16th, 1943 to Karl Knispel and Jean Perriner, Dennis is preceded in death by his parents and son, Dennis Barry Jr. He is survived by his wife, Carol Barry; daughter, Sandra Cruz; son, William and his wife, Amanda Barry; daughter-in-law, Ana Barry; grandchildren, Vicky Sutton, Angela and her husband, Travis Cole, Carolyn Harmon and Daniel Cruz; and great grandchildren, Talion and Tristan Sutton, and Jason Cole. 

A memorial service will be held on October 7^th, 2023, at 2pm at McConnell Memorial Baptist Church in Hiawassee, Georgia.
