Donald Coppedge Maynard

Donald Coppedge Maynard, age 79 of Hiawassee, Georgia passed away on Monday, February 05, 2024, at Northeast Georgia Medical Center. Don was born to the late Nelson and Mary (Kirkland) Maynard on May 29, 1944, in Atlanta, Georgia. Don was a graduate of Decatur High School and Florida State University. After college, he married his high school sweetheart, Kathryn Goolsby. Don was in the hospitality industry for many years and owned several restaurants in the Atlanta area.  He also founded other businesses that included printing, import-export, catering, and a travel agency. In 1983 he met the love of his life Kimberly McElroy.  As Doctors of Theology, they spent countless hours on the road, ministering at multiple churches. Don and Kimberly also hosted a Christian radio show together and traveled the world. Don was an avid reader, loved to ski, taught karate, and enjoyed working in the vineyard at his home in Young Harris. He was full of life, loved an adventure, and was always on the go. Family and friends will deeply miss him.

 

Don is preceded in death by his above-mentioned parents; first wife, Kathryn; wife, Kimberly; and his brother, Charles Maynard. He leaves behind his daughter Kymberly Madden; son-in-law, John; sister, Joan Morris; grandsons, Kyle, and Shawn Madden; and his two great granddaughters, Kylynn, and Klara Madden.

A Memorial Service for Don Maynard will be announced at a later date.
