Dorothy Ida Yates

Mrs. Dorothy Ida Yates, age 90, of Hiawassee, GA for thirty years (previously from Orlando, FL) passed away on July 17, 2013 while a resident of Chatuge Regional Nursing Home. Dorothy was a member of Hiawassee United Methodist Church. Prior to retiring to Hiawassee, GA, Dorothy spent her professional career as an Executive Secretary for several companies in Orlando, FL. Dorothy retired from American Machine Corp. in 1980. She was preceded in death by her husband of seventy years, Delbert  and a daughter, Karen. She is survived by daughter and son-in-law, Beverly and Jackie Gerard, of Marion, KY; daughter, Sandra Waters, of Lake Mary, FL; son, Gary Yates, of Seymour, TN; brother and sister-in-law, Gene and Eleanor Nowell, of Davenport, FL; sister, Lucy Driskill, of Longwood, FL; brother-in-law, John Yates, Jr., of Altamonte Springs, FL five grandchildren, six great grandchildren, two, great, great grandchildren, and a number of nieces and nephews also survive. Memorial services were held on Monday, July 22, 2013 from Hiawassee United Methodist Church. Banister Funeral Home of Hiawassee in charge of arrangements.
