E.C. NULL Denton

Mr. E.C. Denton, age 90 of Hiawassee, GA passed away on Thursday, December 11, 2008 following a period of declining health. He was born to the late Esco and Ora (Foster) Denton on August 14, 1918 in Towns County, GA. He was preceded in death by a brother, Mr. Harold Denton and two sisters, Mrs. Jewel Philyaw and Ms Josie Wood. He enjoyed fishing, hunting, gardening and camping. He is survived by his wife, Dorothy Denton, of Hiawassee, GA; daughters, Amelia Denton Burrell, of Hiawassee, GA; Mattie Denton, of Hiawassee, GA; sons, Billy Denton, of Hiawassee, GA; Bud Denton, of Hiawassee, GA; step-sons, Gary Dye, of Rock Hill, SC; Cecil Dye, of Hiawassee, GA; Anthony Dye, of Young Harris, GA; brother, Hubert Denton, of Gastonia, NC; sister, Irene Hooper, of Hiawassee, GA; twelve grandchildren, fifteen great grandchildren, seven step-grandchildren, nine step- great grandchildren and a number of nieces and nephews also survive. Funeral services were held on Saturday, December 13, 2008 at 3:00 PM from Lower Hightower Baptist Church with Rev. Billy Stiles and Rev. Jason Cantrell officiating. Music was provided by Meschell White, Heather Hammack and Ron Rigsby. Pallbearers were Brandon Burrell, Lamar Burrell, Gerald Denton, Michael Denton, Tony Denton, Curtis Denton and Greg Denton. Honorary pallbearers were step-grandsons, Chris Dye, Dwight Dye, Stephan Dye, Daniel Dye and Nathan Dye. Military honors were conducted by The North GA Honor Guard. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to GA Mtn. Fair Memorial Bench-Hamilton Garden at P.O. Box 444, Hiawassee, GA 30546. Banister Funeral Home of Hiawassee in charge of arrangements.
