Ellen P. Mitchell, 89, of Acworth, Georgia, passed away on March 27th, 2025. She was born on September 4 th , 1935 to Paul and Julia Presnell, in Atlanta, Georgia. 

After graduating from West Fulton High School in 1953, she was married to Gene Mitchell for 58 years. They made a home in Atlanta, Georgia and then Austell, Georgia, where they raised four children until they were able to retire to “God’s Country,” as they referred to it, Hiawassee, Georgia, where Ellen lived for 29 years until moving to Holbrook of Acworth in 2021.

Ellen began working at Rich’s in Atlanta, then began a 25-year career at Fulton County State Court Clerk’s office where she retired in 1991 as the Supervisor of the Cashiers office. After her retirement and moving to Hiawassee, she and Gene enjoyed traveling and volunteering with the Towns County Lions Club and the Georgia Mountain Fair Grounds for many years. While enjoying living in Hiawassee, Ellen was a member of McConnell Baptist Church, Red Hat Ladies, and The Historical Society. All of which she enjoyed volunteering her time.

Ellen was predeceased by her parents, Paul and Julia Presnell; husband, Gene Mitchell; three brothers, and two sisters.

 Ellen is survived by Sons and Daughters-in-law: Keith and Lisa Mitchell, Paul and Rene Mitchell; Daughters and Sons-in-law: Julia and Russell Holden, Genean and Tom Womble; Grandchildren and their Spouses: Chloe and Preston Garrison, Krystina Mitchell, Sarah and Chris Nichols, Jonathan Mitchell, Heather and Jesse Seymour; Lauren and Kenny Turco, and Jessica Womble; Great Grandchildren: Ryan Mitchell, Braedyn Turco, Abigail Seymour, Dylan Nichols, Harper Garrison, Billie Garrison, Mitch Nichols, and Nicholas Seymour; and many Nieces and Nephews.

There will be a visitation at 1:00 p.m. on Wednesday, April 2 nd , 2025, at Bannister-Cooper Funeral Home in Hiawassee, Georgia, followed by a graveside service at 2:00 p.m. at Osborne Cemetery, officiated by her nephew, Dennis Mitchell.
