Mr. Ellis Grover Rogers, age 92 of Hiawassee, Georgia passed away peacefully on December 24, 2020. Mr. Rogers was born on February 9, 1928 in Tate City, Georgia to the late Grover and Arka (Nichols) Rogers. Ellis was a feisty man that was strong and valued hard work, he worked hard his entire life until his retirement. He worked for Ritters, and Charles Black Construction for a number of years. When he wasn’t working his job, he continued working at home tending to his farm and rather large garden. After his wife Ruby passed away, Ellis raised his four young children with the help of his mother, Arka. He enjoyed riding through Tate City and rarely missed an opportunity to get some fried chicken when out on his adventures. Ellis was a loving father, grandfather, great grandfather and uncle. He was preceded in death by his son Ray Rogers, step-son J.B McFalls and daughter Mary (Rogers) Polly, brothers, Willis, Willard, and Charles Rogers and sister, Maggie Dover. Mr. Rogers is survived by daughters and sons-in-law, Sheryl and Edward Tench of Blairsville, Georgia and Wilma and Jim Cote of Jesup, Georgia; brother, Wayne Rogers; sisters, Ruth Ledford, Reba Denton, Jean Tucker, Mae Owenby, and Wanda Rogers; three grandchildren; four great grandchildren and a number of nieces, nephews and friends also survive. A graveside service will be held on Sunday, December 27, 2020 at 2:00 PM at Lower Hightower Baptist Church Cemetery with Rev. Bradley Thomas officiating. The following gentlemen will serve as pallbearers, Edward Tench, James Polly, Jason Wood, Lane Haney, Luke Woody, and Shane Haney.
