Mrs. Emma Ruth Millians, age 100, of Hiawassee, Georgia, passed away on Wednesday, July 13, 2016. Mrs. Millians was born in Fife, Georgia, on December 20, 1915 to the late Soloman and Lee Emma (Coleman) Swofford. She married Dan Haney Millians and they had 3 sons: Larry, Dennis, and Dan. One of her talents was an extraordinary ability to create ceramic figurines. She taught ceramics for 45 years. Emma Ruth taught Sunday School and sang in the choir at Brook Haven Baptist Church in Northeast Atlanta where she was a member for 63 years. In 2008, Mrs. Millians moved to Hiawassee, Georgia and became a member of Macedonia Baptist Church. Mrs. Millians was preceded in death by her husband, Dan Haney Millians; son, Larry Millians; brother, Curtis Burnett Swofford and sister, Valeria Cain. She is survived by her son and daughter-in-law, Dennis and Linda Millians of Hiawassee, Georgia; son and daughter-in-law, Dan and Sharon Millians of Fort Worth, Texas; brother and sister-in-law, Lehman and Evelyn Matthews of Macon, Georgia; 6 grandchildren, 10 great grandchildren, 6 great-great grandchildren, and a number of nieces and nephews also survive.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to Georgia Baptist Children’s Home. Banister Funeral Home of Hiawassee, Georgia in charge of arrangements.
