Ferne H Sidders

Ferne Hoisington Sidders, age 91 of Hayesville, NC passed away on Thursday July
30, 2009 at her home. A native of Upper Darby, Pennsylvania, Mrs. Sidders moved
to Hayesville 4 & ½ years ago from Atlanta, Georgia, after vacationing here for
many years.
Surviving are four grandchildren, Thomas Dalton Sidders IV, of Hayesville, NC;
Shelby Elizabeth Sidders, of Atlanta, GA; Tyler James Sidders, of Atlanta, GA
and Steven Robert Sidders Patton, of Knoxville, TN. She was preceded in death by
her husband, Ephraim D. "Sid" Sidders, and her only son, Thomas Dalton Sidders
III.
Mrs. Sidders was a graduate of the University of Pennsylvania and received a PhD
from Columbia University. In college she worked briefly as a Department Store
model and she taught at Columbia University. After her marriage, she spent the
rest of her life as a homemaker.
Mrs. Sidders and her husband moved to the South about forty-five years ago. She
loved the Southern people, and later added "country people" to that list. She
also loved birds, trees, flowers, dogs and nature.
She liked to listen to country and gospel music and the "swap shop" on the local
radio. She also loved watching the news and the baseball games.
In addition to four surviving relatives, Mrs. Sidders was blessed with a large,
"extended family", and many friends; who loved her for her warmth, cheerful
outlook, elegance and a devotion to graceful living. She will be missed very
much.
Arrangements for a private family memorial will be announced. Banister Funeral
