Mr. George Hill, Sr. age 83 of Young Harris, GA passed away on January 10, 2012 at his home. He was born to the late Albert Lee and Effie (Bryant) Hill on April 13, 1928 in Bexton, GA. He served in the Army with a tour in Japan and worked for a time with Central of GA Railroad before starting his own machine shop and Sheet Metal Business. He later owned and operated George Hill Boat Dock and built numerous boat docks on Lake Chatuge. He was also a lifetime member of VFW. He is survived by wife, Maxine Hill, of Young Harris, GA; sons and daughters-in-law, George Jr. and Gail Hill, of Moreland, GA; Jim and Kathy Hill, of Newnan, GA; daughters and sons-in-law, Janet and Richard Wunner, of Moreland, GA; Becky and Mark Craig, of Sharpsburg, GA; Christy and John Giles, of Hiawassee, GA; brothers, Bob Hill, of Iowa; Jack Hill, of Newnan, GA; William Hill, of Newnan, GA; sister, Elsie Williams, of Fairburn, GA; twelve grandchildren, sixteen great grandchildren, three great great grandchildren, a number of nieces and nephews, a lifelong fishing buddy, Ralph Nichols, a long time friend, Chuck Dingler and a young man he always called âsonâ, Pat Sosebee. Funeral services were held on Friday, January 13, 2012 at 2:00PM from the chapel of Banister Funeral Home with Rev. Mitchell Totherow officiating. Music was provided by Bobby Ellis. Pallbearers were: Pat Sosebee, Ralph Nichols, Carol McKinney, Craig Sosebee, Brian Underwood and Bob Cloer. Interment was in Macedonia cemetery. Banister Funeral Home of Hiawassee in charge of arrangements.
