Hazel L Penland

Mrs. Hazel Lucille Hunter Penland, age 89 of Hiawassee,, GA went home to be with Jesus on April 28, 2011. Mrs. Penland was the daughter of the late Wesley and Luna Gribble Hunter of Hiawassee, GA. Mrs. Penland was a member of Bell Scene Baptist Church. She is preceded in death by three brothers; Boyd, Claude and J.D. Hunter all of Hiawassee, GA she is also preceded in death by four sisters Edna Garrett, of Hayesville, NC; Velma Hunter and Margie Moody, both of Hiawassee, GA, and Louetta Bradley of Hayesville, NC. Mrs Penland is also preceded in death by a grandson, Bryant Penland and the father of her children, J.D. Penland of Hiawassee, GA.
Mrs Penland is survived by two sisters, Lois Hogsed, of Hiawassee, GA; and Ella Mae Moody, of Buford, GA. She is survived by five sons, and daughter-in-law Gene and Joyce Penland, Dennis and Wylene Penland, David and Anna Dean Penland, Dale and Mirle Penland, all of Hiawassee, GA; Dwight and April Penland, of Hayesville, NC. In addition she is survived by eleven grandchildren, two step-granddaughters, ten great grandchildren and two very special great-great granddaughters; along with a host of very special friends and neighbors.
Funeral services were held on Saturday, April 30, 2011 at 2:00PM from the chapel of Banister Funeral Home with Rev. Brent Penland officiating. Music was provided by Philadelphia Quartet. The following gentlemen served as pallbearers: Randall Penland, Jeff Penland, Brian Penland, Jarrod Penland, Josh Parker, Tyler Penland and Jordan Pickelsimer. Honorary pallbearers were Master Adam Penland: Master Lane Penland and Brian Panell. Interment was in Philadelphia Cemetery in Hayesville, NC. Banister Funeral Home of Hiawassee in charge of arrangements.
