Irene Hooper

Mrs. Irene Denton Hooper, age 89, of Hiawassee, Georgia, passed away on August 24, 2015. She was born on April 12, 1924 to the late Esco and Ora (Foster) Denton in Hiawassee, Georgia. She was preceded in death by her husband, E.C. Hooper and her son, Calvin Hooper. She is survived by her daughters, Carolyn Gibson of Hiawassee, Georgia and Cathy Brown of Gainesville, Georgia; son, Conrad Hooper of Hiawassee, Georgia; brother, Hubert Denton, nine grandchildren, a number of great grandchildren, great great grandchildren, nieces and nephews also survive. The family received friends from the Banister Funeral Home Chapel on Tuesday, August 25, 2015 from 6-8PM. Funeral services were held from the chapel of Banister Funeral Home on Wednesday, August 26, 2015 at 2:00PM with Rev. Harold Ledford officiating. Interment followed at Lower Hightower Baptist Church. Pallbearers were Stetson Hedden, Chad Gibson, Colton Stroud, Bailey Gibson, Stephen Souther and Blake Chastain. Honorary pallbearers were Stacey Hooper, Brett Hooper, Clayton Souther, Sterlin Hedden and Cody Stroud. Music was provided by Jane Hunter and Freda Nichols. Banister Funeral Home in charge of arrangements.
