Jimmy Denton

Roger "Jimmy" Denton, age 81, of Hiawassee, Georgia passed away Monday, February 28, 2022. Jimmy was born November 30, 1940 to the late Harold and Susie (Arrendale) Denton in Hiawassee, Georgia. He attended Lower Hightower Baptist Church since he was a child. He was a hard worker; he worked on heavy equipment for many years. When he wasn't able to work heavy equipment anymore, he started working for the Towns County Landfill where he worked for over 15 years. He liked to be doing anything outdoors: fishing, golf, hunting, racing, etc. When he was younger, he was a daredevil; he loved to race cars both at tri-county and even in Atlanta sometimes. Jimmy had a heart of gold; he was always willing to help anyone. He loved children and animals, especially his dogs Sparky and "Pet".

 

He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Vonzelle Ledford Denton; daughter, Robin Diane Adams; brothers, Phil Denton, Bobby Denton, Duard Denton, Edward Denton; and niece, Vicky Denton. He is survived in death by his granddaughter, Chyanne Adams; and nephews, Scott Denton, Mickey Denton, Timmy Denton, Ronnie Denton, and Eddie Denton.

 

Visitation: Wednesday, March 2, 2022 from 6:00-9:00pm at Banister-Cooper Funeral Home.

Funeral: Friday, March 4, 2022 at 3:00pm at Banister-Cooper Funeral Home with Rev. Steve Merck officiating. Interment will follow at Lower Hightower Cemetery.

 

Pallbearers: Mickey Denton, Scott Denton, Greg Rogers, Brett Denton, Dexter Adams and Rex Coleman
