Jimmy R Owenby

Jimmy R. Owenby, age 80 of Hiawassee, Georgia passed away Saturday, July 14, 2024 at Chatuge Regional Nursing Home. Jimmy was born May 14, 1944 to the late Garnett and Bonnie (Erwin) Owenby in Blairsville, Georgia. He loved his family deeply, enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren, often picking them up just to go ride around. Jimmy was kind, funny, and never met a stranger. During his downtime he enjoyed watching the Braves play baseball.

He is preceded in death by his parents; son, Danny Moody Jr.; brothers, J.D. Owenby, Audie Owenby, Johnny (Peewee) Owenby, Dillard Owenby, Ray Owenby, and Bill Owenby; sisters, Mildred Butt, Dorothy Mashburn, Brenda Sue Wallace. He is survived by his wife of fifty-seven years, Jimmie Nell (Barrett) Owenby; daughter, Jamie (Steven) Mercer; sisters, Melva Lynn Ledford and Shirley Brown; grandchildren, Camren, Carson, Ian, Raigan, Justin, Damian, and Ariel; two great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.
