Jimmy Paul Wright

Chief Jimmy Paul Wright, age 50, of Hiawassee, GA passed away on Sunday, December 13, 2015 following a brief illness. Jimmy was born on June 3, 1965 to Frances Owenby Owens in Hiawassee, GA. He is survived by his mother, Frances Owenby Owens of Hiawassee, GA; son, Jared Wright of Hiawassee, GA currently of Honolulu, HI; daughter, Brittany Wright of Young Harris, GA; sister, Angie Wright of Hiawassee, GA; brother and sister-in-law, Terry and Beth Wright of Hiawassee, GA; grandson, Kohen Wright, of Young Harris, GA; nephew, Carter Wright and children he loved as family; Colton West, Cailyn West, Pablo, Brooklyn and Jonah. He is also survived by the community he dearly loved and served for 25 years and his brothers and sisters in uniform. The family received friends from the chapel of Banister Funeral Home on Wednesday, December, 16, 2015 from 6-9 PM. Services were held on Thursday, December 17, 2015 from McConnell Memorial Baptist Church with preacher Mark Jeralds officiating. Music was provided by Ryan Wilson and Emily Gerdes. Pallbearers were Arvel Walls, Tracy James, Ricky Mathis, Curtis Walls, Harold Copeland, Tyler Keyes, Mark Henderson and Brandon Barrett. His family has asked that in lieu of flowers, donations be made to the HPD Shop with a Cop program in honor of Chief Wright. This program was started by Chief Wright and was always the highlight of his year. He loved to help community children have a brighter Christmas.
