Jody Ann Braille-Kesler

July 7, 1964 — January 22, 2025

Hiawassee

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Jody Braille-Kesler, who lost her valiant battle with cancer. Jody fought bravely, surrounded by her soulmate, Scott Heggie and their beloved daughter, Lindsay Kesler. She leaves behind her devoted mother, Sue Braille of Ellijay, GA and Palm Coast, FL, and is welcomed into the arms of her father, Martin Braille, in heaven.

Jody's legacy includes not only her cherished family but also the many lives she touched. She is survived by her soulmate, Scott Heggie of Hiawassee, GA, her daughter Lindsay and son-in-law Joey, as well as her precious granddaughter Layla. Her heart ached for her son, Josh Kesler, who preceded her in death. Jody is also survived by her brothers, Steven Braille (Palm Coast, FL) and Eric Braille (Ellijay, GA), along with sister-in-law Patricia Braille (Palm Coast, FL). Her beloved niece, Michelle Braille (Centereach, NY), and nephew Sean Braille (Ossining, NY) and his wife, Nicollette, along with her great-nephew, Benjamin Coppola, and great-niece, Emily Coppola, will carry on her memory.

Diagnosed with cancer in December, Jody faced her illness with unwavering strength and grace. Her cheery demeanor, contagious laughter, and boundless love will be deeply missed by all who were fortunate enough to know her.

Professionally, Jody dedicated many years as a supervisor of telecommunications at Jupiter Hospital in Florida. However, her greatest joy came from being a mom. She had a passion for singing, gardening, and spending quality time with family and friends.

Jody and Scott shared a special bond, one that flourished during their retirement in Hiawassee, GA. Together, they embraced their new life, volunteering for community services and joining the local VFW. They created beautiful memories while surrounded by the majestic mountains, traveling, and discovering joys such as gem panning. Jody had a special affinity for nature, often collecting feathers and watching for butterflies, dragonflies, and cardinals—symbols she believed were messages from her father and son from beyond. As we remember her, we will look for these signs from heaven.

A service in celebration of Jody’s life will be held in Hiawassee, GA, at the end of February. She will forever remain in our hearts, guiding us with her love and spirit.

Rest in peace, Jody Braille-Kessler. You were deeply loved and will always be missed.
