Jeff was born to the late Mr. John Don Waldroup and Lilly (Coffee) Waldroup March 15, 1940 in Hayesville, N.C. He is proceeded in death by his parents and brothers, James Waldroup, George Waldroup and Marvin Waldroup. He has a surviving sister, Juanita Waldroup.
Jeff is survived by his wife, Viola (Dyer) Waldroup and three daughters, Susan deVries, Cindy and Jim Sutton and Jennifer Bingham. He has three grandchildren, Jimmy Sutton, Carolyn and Toby Grinnen and Willem and Jessica DeVries. He also has four great grandchildren, Michael, Adalyn and John Foster and Avery Grinnen.
Jeff grew up on a dairy farm where Chatuge Shores Golf Course is now. He attended Woods Grove Baptist Church and graduated from Hayesville High School. He started his business by buying and operating the first backhoe in Towns County. Jeff was a partner in and built Sugar Creek Raceway in Blue Ridge, Georgia. He later started Chatuge Land Company in 1970. He built Forest Service roads in Rabun County.
Jeff was a volunteer in the first Fire Department in Towns County. He was also on call for the Emergency Blood Donation Group. He also served as Past President of the Towns County Farm Bureau.
Jeff belonged to the Unicoi Masonic Lodge and served as Past Worshipful Master. He belonged to the Towns County Lions Club where he served as President and was on the Georgia Mountain Fair Board. He started the famous smoked trout and BBQ booth. He also loved being the emcee for many years of the Youth Day Talent Shows. Jeff's favorite pastime was hunting, fishing and following a good bird dog.
Pallbearers are Jim Sutton, Jimmy Sutton, Willem DeVries, Jason Dyer, Michael Foster and Cameron Dayton.
Honorary Pallbearers are Jack Anderson, Carl Edwards, Steve Giles, Lake McClure, Jimmy Taff and Tom Phillips.
