Larry N Harkins

Mr. Larry Nix Harkins, age 66 of Blairsville, GA (formerly of Cumming, GA)passed away on Thursday, August 06, 2009 following a period of declining health. He was born to the late General Pat and Maver Clarinda (Nix) Harkins on April 30, 1943, in Houston County, GA. He was preceded in death by his son, Master Matthew Harkins in 1999 and a brother, Mr. John Harkins in 2005. He is survived by his former wife, Barbara Harkins, of Sumter, SC; son, Bradley Harkins, of Dunwoody, GA; brothers and sisters-in-law, Stanley "Jim" and Leanora Harkins, of Ft. Walton Beach, FL; Gerry and Dianne Harkins, of McDonough, GA; sister, Margaret Patterson, of Warrenton, VA, and number of nieces and nephews also survive. Funeral mass was held on Tuesday, August 11, 2009 at 11:30 AM from Church of the Good Shepherd Catholic Church in Cumming, GA with Father Tony Rigolio and Father Alvaro Avendano officiating. A graveside service was held on Thursday, August 13, 2009 at 11:30 AM from St. Lawrence Cemetery in Sumter, SC. Interment was in St. Lawrence Cemetery in Sumter, SC. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to the American Heart Association in Mr. Larry N. Harkins memory. Banister Funeral Home of Hiawassee, GA in charge of arrangements.
