Laura Beth Johns Ide, age 54, of Hiawassee, Georgia passed away on March 28, 2022 following a brief illness. Laura was born on December 28, 1967 in Griffin, Georgia. Laura was a devout Christian. There is no doubt that when she got to heaven that she greeted Jesus first, and was reunited with her mother. After the greetings were exchanged, she surely signed up for the heavenly choir. Laura loved music, singing hymns, sharing scripture and was an ambassador for Christ.
She loved her dogs Silvie, Bea, and her Pomeranian Blue. Laura sang in every church choir she ever joined, and was part of the Young Presbyterian Singers for a European tour after high school. However, her greatest moment was when she visited Carnegie Hall to sing with her fellow choir members in 2019. She had many friends in the churches that she attended from Pleasant Hill Presbyterian in Duluth, Georgia to Sharp Memorial United Methodist in Young Harris and McConnell Baptist Church in Hiawassee.
She loved living here in the mountains, and especially enjoyed being out on the lake with her friends.
Laura was a graduate of Colquitt County High School and graduated from Valdosta State University with a degree in English and Journalism. She worked for a time as a newspaper reporter and later worked in retail management, accounting, as a law office assistant, and was currently the office manager at the Towns County Health Department. She saw every new job as a challenge she embraced.
She was predeceased by her beloved mother Charlotte Marie (Bearden) Johns. Laura is survived by her loving husband of 30 years, Gary Ide; daughter, Valleri Ide; son, Alexander Ide; and her dear father, Thomas Wayne Johns; mother and father-in-law, Raymond and Barbara Ide; niece, Leah Johns; nephew, Daniel Johns; sister-in-law Sharon Volmer and her husband Eddy and a host of church family and friends.
