Lewis Kenneth Brewer Jr.

Lewis Kenneth Brewer Jr. of Hiawassee, GA, age 73, passed on Easter Sunday, April 9th, 2023 at Northeast Georgia Medical Center in Gainesville, GA.

Mr. Brewer spent 22 years as the Director of the Housing Authority for Douglas County Ga. His primary passion at the authority was the relationship he developed with his residents, especially those in the senior center.  A founding member of Grace Presbyterian Church in Douglasville, GA, his faith proved of lifelong importance to him.  An avid reader, military and history enthusiast, his family and friends remained amazed at how despite his physical limitations, his mental capacity for knowledge, business sense, philanthropy, and wit stood consistent.  Marrying his college sweetheart, traveling alongside her, and enjoying retirement on Lake Chatuge made him happy.

Ken is survived by his wife of 51 years: Kimeran Brewer; a daughter and son-in-law: Kendra and Brent Sanderson; a son and daughter- in- law: Kenneth and Shannon Brewer; six grandchildren: Brody, Laney, and Chase Sanderson and Sydney, Kyndall, and Ellah Brewer; three sisters: Ruth Elizabeth “Bunny” and Harry Jennings; Kay Johnson, Sandy Cummings, and three sisters-in-law; Denise and Bob Herman, Lucia and David Perry, and Janet and Mike Brooks as well as numerous nieces and nephews and a chosen brother, best friend Joseph H. Fowler.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Lewis and Ruth Brewer; his in-laws Walter Grant and Janet Moseley, his brother-in-law Ronald Grant, and his brother and sister--in- law Grant Moseley, Jr. and Rhonda Moseley.

Serving as Pall Bearers are his grandson Brody Sanderson, and nephews Preston Grant,  Alexander Jennings, Matthew Jennings, Phillip Johnson, and Kurt Moseley.

Funeral: Saturday, April 15, 2023 at McConnell Memorial Baptist Church  at 11:00AM

Interment at Osborn Cemetery following service.
