Mary Wanda Burrell

Mary Wanda Burrell, 86, of Jacksonville, FL, passed away on February 19, 2016 in Hiawassee, GA.

Wanda was born May 20,1931 in Hayesville, N.C., to Willard(Ted) Thomas and Gala Smith Thomas. 

She grew up in Hayesville and met her future husband J.C. when she was 5 years old. Over 63 years of marriage she would become the mother of eight children and a loving Nanal to 20 grandchildren and 25 great grandchildren.  

She had a gypsy soul that loved to travel, sing and play guitar. She adored flowers and her grandbabies. 

She was extremely devoted to her husband and family and will continue to shine in the hearts of her many grandchildren.  

Wanda will be greatly missed by her children Keith (Sharon) Burrell, David (Kathy) Burrell, Karen Bonts, Kathey (Jeff) Luke, Joe (Dawn) Burrell and Tammy Anderson 

Wanda is preceded in death by her parents, her husband, J.C. Burrell, her daughters, Brenda Hoffman and Jacqueline Ditmore, son-in-law, Larry Hoffman grandsons, Ronald Keith Burrell and Jason C. Bonts, granddaughter, Gina Bradshaw Ditmore and great grandchildren, Jake John Ditmore III and Genesis Ditmore

Family visitation will be held on February 24, 2018 at 1:00 PM at Banister Funeral Home 678 North Main St. Hiawassee, Ga 30546. Service will follow at 2:00 PM with the Rev. Johnny Burrell officiating graveside at The Philadelphia Baptist Church in Hayesville, N.C. at 2:00 PM.

Pallbearers: David Burrell, Joe Burrell, Christopher Burrell, Chase Burrell, Jared Blake Burrell, and Sam Ditmore
