SUBJECT: OBIT FOR: MRS. MARY CELESTIA “PENNY” HORNE
Mrs. Mary Celestia “Penny” Horne, age 85 of Hiawassee, GA passed away on October 09, 2012 following a brief illness. She was born to the late George and Mabel (Morley) Stewart on April 10, 1927 in Athens, PA. She was AARP President for the past six years, Civic Organization in St. Augustine Shores, FL Past President, Professional Organist for many years, First Radio Newscaster, in Rhode Island and First Female Auto Delivery Room out of Detroit, MI. She was preceded in death by great granddaughter, Danielle Barnes. She is survived by daughters, Sandra Duchesne, of Hiawassee, GA; Lisa Cargill, of Hiawassee, GA; son, Stewart Watson, of Warner Robins, GA; seven grandchildren, nine great grandchildren and a number of nieces and nephews also survive. Funeral services were held on Thursday, October 12, 2012 at 7:00 PM from the chapel of Banister Funeral Home with Samuel Hamby officiating. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations and contributions be made to: American Cancer Society. Banister Funeral Home of Hiawassee in charge of arrangements.
