Mary L Mathis

Mrs. Mary Lue Mathis, age 88 of Hiawassee, GA passed away on Tuesday, December 21, 2010 following a period of declining health. She was born to the late Frank and Bertha (Collins) Lyons on September 07, 1922 in Hiawassee, GA. She was a member of the WMU and a member of Lower Hightower Baptist Church for approximately eighty years. She is survived by her daughters, Myrtle Sokol, Ann Coleman and Genievieve Champion, all of Hiawassee, GA; sisters, Nannie Rose Brookshire, of Demorest, GA and Irene Gibson, of Villa Rica, GA; four grandchildren, nine great grandchildren and a number of nieces and nephews also survive. Funeral services were held on Thursday, December 23, 2010 at 1:00PM from Lower Hightower Baptist Church with Rev. Danny Burch, Rev. George Fortner and Rev. Jimmy Rogers officiating. Music was provided by Glen and Sheila Eller. Pallbearers were: Tim Coleman, Jared Coleman, Jerry Hamilton, Ricky Franks, Phillip Gibson and Nathan McClure. Interment was in Lower Hightower Baptist Church cemetery. Banister Funeral Home of Hiawassee in charge of arrangements.
