Mary Kathryn Sumner

Heaven has a new angel today and it is Kathryn Crow Sumner.
Kathryn Crow Sumner was born March 9th, 1933 in Dalton, Georgia. She was one of eight children born to the late Jerry and Elizabeth Crow. She departed from this life on December 20th, 2014 in Hiawassee, Georgia. Kate has resided at Chatuge Nursing Home since February, 2010. She lovingly called it “Home”. She loved everyone there and they returned that love to her every day. Kate was a joy to be around. She was always smiling and always a little “spunky” too. She loved to laugh and make others laugh. She is survived by one son, Buddy L. Sumner of Hiawassee, Georgia and two Grandchildren Jesse Sumner and Melissa Ellis. She also has three Great Grandchildren. Railey Ellis, Noah and Jaci Sumner. She is also survived by two sisters, Mabel “Polly” Kile of Hiawassee, Georgia and Elizabeth Watkins of Powder Springs, Georgia and one “Special” sister, Joann Miller of Hiawassee, Georgia also two brothers, Thomas Crow of Villa Rica, Georgia and Jerry G. Crow of Monticello, Georgia. Many more nieces, nephews, cousins and friends will miss her but we are all happy that she is resting in the arms of her Precious Lord. We bet there is some foot tapping, pew bouncing, hand clapping and singing going on in Heaven right about now. At her request, her body was cremated and no funeral service will be held. A memorial service will be planned at a later date. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made in Kate’s name to her “Home”. Chatuge Nursing Home in Hiawassee, Georgia.
