Max Everett Jones, age 76, of Hiawassee, Georgia passed away in his home on Thursday, October 27, 2022 after an extended illness. Max was born on October 9, 1946 in Cornelia, Georgia to the late Mr. and Mrs. John Alvin and Lizzie May Jones. He was a devoted husband to Mrs. Betty Lou Jones for 33 years; he spent the last years of her life bringing her breakfast every morning to the nursing home and most days was there several times a day to care for her. To his children he was their hero; to his community he provided a safe place for someone who needed a home, father figure or a family to love them. In his down time he enjoyed fishing, going to flea markets and thrift stores to find little treasures. He loved sitting outside, making people laugh and spending time with his family. He touched many lives and will be deeply missed.
Max is preceded in death by his parents, John and Betty Jones, and his wife, Betty Lou Jones. He is survived by his daughters, Catrina (Matt) Bishop and Tracy McKinney, Lisa Morris; son, Chad Everett Jones; sister, Mildred Jones; grandchildren, Eric Morris, Taylor Anderson, Federico Curbelo, Jonathan McKinney, Kiley Ahlgren, Mason Ahlgren, Sara West, Amber Mazen, and Samantha McKinney; great grandchildren, Ginger Monk, Alijah Mazen, and Izaiah Mazen; and niece, Patsy Phillips. A host of extended family and friends also survive.
