Melanie Mae Chastain, age 41 of Hiawassee, GA passed away on Tuesday, February 02, 2010 following a brief illness. She was preceded in death by her father, William Roy Chastain, Sr. and a sister, Melissa Shelton. She is survived by her mother, Joann Dills, of Hiawassee, GA; husband, Michael Grier, of Hiawassee, GA; two step-daughters, Santana and Brittany Grier, both of Cleveland, GA; father of sons, Bruce Berrong, of Hiawassee, GA; sons and daughter-in-law, Edward and Jessica Berrong and Josh Berrong, of Hiawassee, GA; brothers, Roy and Shannon Chastain, both of Hiawassee, GA; sister, Melinda Kelley, of Hiawassee, GA; grandparents of sons, Leon and Esta Berrong, of Hiawassee, GA and a number of nieces and nephews also survive. Funeral services were held on Friday, February 05, 2010 at 12:00N from Mt. Zion Baptist Church with Rev. Anthony Dye, Rev. Jimmy Rogers and Rev. Duane Beck officiating. Music was provided by Steve and Lamar Chastain. Pallbearers were: Jonathan Revis, Justin Eller, Randy Kelley, Cody Shelton, Patrick Kelley, and Derek Chastain. Interment was in Mt. Zion Baptist Church cemetery. Banister Funeral Home of Hiawassee in charge of arrangements.
