Montree D McCarter, age 100, passed away Monday, March 3, 2025 at Chatuge Regional Nursing Home. She was born to the late Millard and Sarah Jane (Eller) Dover in Hiawassee, Georgia on August 18, 1924. She was a member of Macedonia Baptist Church for many years. She was a dedicated wife, mother, and grandmother, always putting the needs of her family first. Family was the most important thing to Montree. She loved that they all lived in the same area so she could keep her eye on everyone. She was well known for the beautiful flowers in her yard and being on her lawnmower was her favorite place to be. She wanted her grass to look perfect all the time. She was also known for her incredible cooking, especially her fried chicken. She will be deeply missed and cherished by all who had the privilege of knowing her.
She is preceded in death by 3 husbands Ward Stroud, Carlton Junior Garrett, and Bill McCarter, her above mentioned parents and three brothers. She is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Nyoka and Johnny Rogers; son and daughter-in-law, Wiley Terry and Claudean Stroud; grandchildren and spouses, Ricky and Karen Rogers, Randy and Tricia Rogers, Kenny and Trena Stroud, Donna and Danny Owens; ten great grandchildren and six great great grandchildren. She also leaves behind many friends and extended family.
Pallbearers are Josh Stroud, Zack Stroud, Dalton Rogers, Blaine Rogers, Chase Rogers and Clay Rogers.
