Nancy Lee Ward Gadsby passed away in Hiawassee, Georgia on February 24, 2012.
She was born on February 12, 1938 in Washington, D.C. After graduating from Oxon
Hill High School, MD in 1956, her higher education in Special Education and
Spanish included a B.S. from Hood College, Frederick, MD, and M.S. from the
University of South Florida, Tampa, FL.

> In 1959 she married her high school sweetheart, John C. Gadsby.  She began an
impactful career as a teacher in Maryland and spent most of her career teaching
in Florida at Pine View School and other schools before retiring with her
husband to the north Georgia mountains in 2000.

> She is preceded in her ascension to heaven by her mother, Minerva Skinner
Ward, her father, George E. Ward, her husband, John C. Gadsby, and one
granddaughter. She is survived by her sister, Joan Marie Ward Smith and
brother-in-law, Samuel Smith of Cleveland, GA; son John Allen Gadsby of
Blairsville, GA, daughters, Carolee Gadsby of Seymour, TN and Kristin Lynn
Gadsby-Schrock of Dalton, GA, son James Edward Gadsby and daughter-in-law,
Elizabeth Deibler Gadsby of Marietta, GA; five nieces and nephews; fourteen
grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.

> A memorial service will be held on Tuesday, February 28, 11:00 a.m. at
McConnell Memorial Baptist Church in Hiawassee, GA. In lieu of flowers,
donations may be made to McConnell MemorialBaptist Church or non-profit writers
organizations in your local area. Banister Funeral Home of Hiawassee in charge
