Nora Lea Ferguson, age 79, of Young Harris, Georgia passed away peacefully on Saturday, March 26, 2022 surrounded by her loving family. Nora Lea was born in Young Harris, Georgia to the late Pierson and Carrie (Clontz) Campbell on August 20, 1942. She was of the Baptist faith. Nora Lea, lovingly referred to by everyone who knew her as “Granny”, was a lifetime member of Old Brasstown Baptist Church. She was a loving mother, grandmother, great grandmother, aunt and friend. One of her very special friends said it best when she said “to know her was to love her.” Granny enjoyed basketball, fishing, rocking on her porch, and watching old movies, especially the ones with Julia Roberts and Richard Gere. She was also faithful to her church, family and friends. Nora Lea was preceded in death by her husband Wade Ferguson; brother, William Pierson; sisters, Gladys,Martha Nell, Icadora and Geneva; and her grandson, Benjamin Patterson. She is survived by daughters and sons-in-law, Pam and IB Patterson and Connie and Charles Smith; grandchildren, David and Shelli Smith, Andrea and AD Shirley, and Sarah Patterson; great grandchildren, Dagan Roberts, Madison Mort, Abby Anderson, Louie Mort, Luke Lee, Norashae Patterson, Mackibee Patterson, and Alexandra Patterson; one great great grandchild, Ivy Lee; several nieces and nephews and a host of extended family and friends.
Visitation: Monday, March 28, 2022, from 2:00 to 4:00 PM at Old Brasstown Baptist Church
Funeral Service: Monday, March 28, 2022 at Old Brasstown Baptist Church at 4:00 PM with Rev. Jonathan Adams and David Smith officiating. Music provided by Carla Cantrell.
Interment: Old Brasstown Baptist Church Cemetery
Pallbearers: Louie Mort, Luke Lee, Albert Garrett, Billy Cantrell, Terry John Campbell, and Tommy Garland.
Nora Lea never met a stranger and could talk to anyone. Above everything else though, she loved the Lord and she talked to Him as if He was sitting right there with her. Banister-Cooper Funeral Home is honored to care for Nora Lea “Granny” Ferguson.
