Peter Bruno Rackauskas

Mr. Peter Bruno Rackauskas Sr., age 77, passed away Monday, July 8, 2019 after an extended illness. Pete was born in Lithuania on June 14, 1942 to the late Balesus and Mary (Sinkevicius) Rackauskas. Pete was a devoted Catholic. He was an entrepreneur and ran his own business as a subcontractor installing tile and granite. He was well known as an exceptional tile installer, laying tile in many homes and businesses in the area. His work ethic and attention to detail was outstanding and admirable. Pete also really enjoyed fishing any chance he got. He had a big heart who was always willing to help anyone at anytime. He was always there for his wife and children. Pete also had a keen sense of humor, loved to joke around and cherished his family dearly. He is preceded in death by his father Balesus Rackauskas; mother Mary (Sinkevicius) Bereikal great grandson Christopher Edwards and his sister Nijole Rackauskas. Pete leaves behind his wife Pat Cross Rackauskas; son Peter Rackauskas Jr. of Madison, AL; daughters Mandy Kilker of Young Harris, GA and Kim Risher of Oklahoma City, OK; sisters Donna Goodridge of Sebastian, FL and Barbara Sewell of Knoxville, TN; grandchildren Jacob, Olivia and Joe Rackauskas, Ashley Mediate and Kyle Shea; great-grandchildren Damien Mediate and Dakota Moore; special friend Sharon Reed; along with a number of nieces, nephews, extended family and friends. No services are planned at this time. Banister Funeral Home of Hiawassee, Georgia is in charge of the arrangements for Mr. Rackauskas.
