Phyllis Agda Teschke Hopkins, age 80, of Hiawassee, Georgia passed away on Friday, February 3, 2023. Phyllis was born to the late Fredrick and Agda (Norrgard) Teschke in Rahway, New Jersey on June 18, 1942. She was a member of Macedonia Baptist Church. She graduated from Miami Edison in 1960 and went on to get her Bachelor's degree in Ancient History at Berry College for Women. She earned three Master Degrees, one each from University of Miami, University of Tennessee, and Georgia Southwestern. She was not just committed to her own education but extended her help to coal miners, teaching them to read while she was in Tennessee. Phyllis was a member of the Federal Integration Team from 1968-1970. She made teaching her career and spent thirty one years teaching high school seniors before she retired. In her spare time she loved to read and garden.
She is preceded in death by her above mentioned parents and her husband, William Payne Hopkins. She leaves behind her brother, John Teschke, and what she always called "My little family" H.D. Theresa Jaylen and Kiley Parker, plus numerous cousins.

Memorial: Saturday, February, 11th 2023 at Macedonia Baptist Church at 2:00PM with Rev. Wade Lott officiating.
Interment: Macedonia Cemetery
