Randy David Patterson, son, brother, friend, and angel on earth passed away suddenly Monday November 25, 2013, at his residence. Randy filled many hearts with joy during his 55 years on earth. The word most fitting to describe Randy was uniquely special. Randy taught everyone who knew him more important life lessons than anyone could ever teach him: humility, loyalty, love, kindness and gentleness. Just being around him made you want to be a better person and helped put in perspective what really matters in life. He didnât get caught up in lifeâs petty squabbles or gossip, material goods, and never complained no matter how hard life was for him. Instead, Randy remained positive and pure as he lived live to the fullest everyday. He had a love of country music, especially Charley Pride, of animals and a love of Little Debbie Snack Cakes. He kept everyoneâs deepest secrets, because you knew you could trust him. Randy would never tell. He embodied a golden and pure heart, set an example for everyone whose life he touched and left an enormous void in the lives of everyone who knew him. He was born on October 3, 1958 to two of the best parents any child could have. Robert and Maybell Patterson who precedes him in death. He was so happy to have had the privilege to be a brother and uncle to, Mildred Patterson Nichols, Hildred Patterson, Sherri Barnes and Thomas Britt Carter who also precedes him in death. He has two sisters, Janie Barnes of Hayesville, who was not only his sister but his care giver and friend. Susie Smith of Cleveland, GA. Five brothers, Robert Patterson Jr. and Steve Patterson of Hayesville, Michael Patterson of Hiawassee, Robin Patterson of Young Harris, and Terry Patterson of Blairsville. He said he was always blessed to have many nieces and nephews whom he loved dearly. Pallbearers are Jackie Barnes, Johnny Barnes, Gary Barnes, Joel Patterson, Robert Patterson, and Chris Patterson all nephews.
Services were held on Friday November 29th, 2013 at the Hillcrest Assembly of God in Hayesville, NC. Visitation was on Friday from 10am to 12pm, at the church. The funeral began at 12:30pm and his last farewell speech was given by our sister, Pastor Aline Mosteller. Burial was in the Bethel Cemetery on Shooting Creek, NC.
