Ruby Lea Garrett

Ruby Lea Garrett, age 86, of Valdosta, Georgia, passed away on October 6, 2024, after an extended illness. Ruby was born on November 10, 1937, to the late Ronald and Ruth (Potts) Souther in Blairsville, Georgia. She attended Macedonia Baptist Church for many years and worked for over twenty years at Towns County Hospital and Nursing Home. Ruby loved to read, tend to her flowers, and most of all, travel with her husband, Wayne.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Wayne Garrett; her son, Chris Garrett; her brothers, J.B. Souther and Jerry Souther; and her sisters, Faye Baxter and Diana Worley. She is survived by her daughter, Jana (Cecil) Whitehead; her sister, Joann Crump; her grandchildren, Blake (Amy) Whitehead and Danielle (Martin) Lanier; and her great-grandchildren, Cason Garrett Whitehead, Londyn Rebecca Whitehead, Cohyn Amanda Lanier, and Kash Wayne Lanier.

Graveside service will be held on Monday, October 14, 2024, at 1:00 p.m. at Laurel Hills Memorial Gardens Cemetery, with Rev. Wade Lott officiating.

Banister-Cooper Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements for Mrs. Garrett.
