Ruth Cochran

Mrs. Ruth Cochran, age 84 of Hiawassee, GA passed away on Wednesday, February
06, 2013 following an extended illness. She was born to the late Luther Carl and
Hattie Iris (Howell) Kimsey on June 29, 1928 in Hiawassee, GA. She was preceded
in death by her husband, Jay Shell Cochran, sister, Betty Joe Lunsford and
brother, Claude Kimsey. She was Treasurer for Friendship Baptist Church for 20+
years, a Bailiff for 20+ years and supervised absentee ballots at the voting
precinct for 20+ years. She is survived by daughters, Jayn Schollander, of
Winston-Salem, NC; Jarah Ann Wilk, of MacClenny, FL; son, Jay Shell Cochran,
Jr., of Hiawassee, GA; four grandchildren, one great grandchild and a number of
nieces and nephews also survive. Funeral services were held on Saturday,
February 08, 2013 at 2:00PM from Friendship Baptist Church with Rev. Harold
Ledford officiating. Music was provided by Friendship Church Choir. Pallbearers
were Leon Arrowood, Cecil Dye, Donnie Payne, Steven Phillips, Lynn Phillips and
Jerry Bradshaw. Honorary pallbearers were Neal Dover and Steve Holmes. Interment
was in Russell cemetery. Banister Funeral Home of Hiawassee in charge of
arrangements.
