Mrs. Sara McReynolds Acree, age 91 of Hiawassee, Georgia, passed away on Wednesday, September 1, 2021. She was born February 2, 1930 to the late Mr. and Mrs. Guy and Nell (Gaines) McReynolds. Sara was a member of McConnell Memorial Baptist Church and loved her church family and time spent with her ladies Sunday school class. She was a giving person, always looking to help people. She was a Registered Nurse and very involved with the Towns County Hospital now known as Chatuge Regional Hospital as a nurse, educator and a volunteer; she was a founding member of the Ladies Auxiliary and taught numerous nursing classes throughout her career. Sara married the late Dr. John Acree in 1952 and they had three children: Johnny Acree, Cheryl (Mike) Bleckley and Brent Acree. She loved her flowers in her yard, watching birds, being outdoors and spending time with her grandchildren, John (Jordyn) Bleckley and Ali Bleckley, whom she loved dearly. She is preceded in death by her husband, John Acree; brothers, Dan, William and David McReynolds; and sisters, Kathryn Acree and Frances Jones. Surviving are her above mentioned children, grandchildren, a number of nieces, nephews and extended family and friends. Mrs. Acree will be remembered by the faithful life she lived, as a loving mother and beloved Gran to her grandchildren.
In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be given to McConnell Memorial Baptist Church Building Fund: PO Box 235 Hiawassee, GA.
