Sherman Wayne Rogers

Sherman Wayne Rogers, age 59 of Hiawassee, Georgia, passed away on Wednesday, November 3, 2021. Sherman was born in Hiawassee, Georgia to Mr. Wayne Rogers and Gretchel Sanders Rogers on November 8, 1961. Sherman is preceded in death by his father, Wayne Rogers. He is survived by his mother, Gretchel Rogers; sister, Sharon Rogers Moore; aunts, Ruth Ledford, Reba Denton, Jean Tucker, Mae Owenby, Wanda Rogers, and Beatrice Kimsey; and uncle, Bruce Kimsey. He also leaves behind numerous cousins, friends and his work family.

Sherman was a member of Pine Grove Baptist Church. He worked for Local ISTSE 834 Union Stagehand as a Rigger for over 30 years. His coworkers were as much part of his family as his own blood and he hung out with them often. He lived in the Atlanta area for most of his career but moved back home to Hiawassee in the last few years. Sherman was an avid Rock and Roll music listener and he found himself at karaoke on occasion; singing some of his favorite tunes. He loved to trout fish and then cook it along with hushpuppies for his friends and family to enjoy. He also loved watching his favorite sports teams and working in his garden.

Funeral: Wednesday, November 10, 2021 at Banister-Cooper Funeral Home at 1:00pm with Rev. Paul Richards and Rev. Mark Shook officiating
Interment: Pine Grove Baptist Church in Hiawassee.
Pallbearers: David "Hootie" Anthony, Ronnie Vaughn, Rex Coleman, Dan Clement, Tim Dills and Mike Floyd.
