Verona Vonzelle Denton

Verona Vonzelle Denton, age 72, of Hiawassee, Georgia passed away on Tuesday, January 5th following a brief illness. Vonzelle was born on May 30, 1943 to the late C.D. and Marie (Wilson) Ledford in Hayesville, NC. She is survived by her husband Jimmy Denton of Hiawassee, GA; brothers, Wallace, Denver and Verlin Ledford all of Hayesville, NC; sisters, Eunita Sokowoski of Commerce, GA and Tresha McClure of Hiawassee, GA; Son-in-law, Dexter Adams; granddaughter, Cheyenne Adams Boone and a number of nieces and nephews also survive. She was preceded in death by her daughter, Diane Adams. The family received friends at Banister Funeral Home on Wednesday, January 6, 2015 from 6:00 - 9:00 PM. Funeral services were held on Thursday, January 7, 2015 at North Mt. Zion Church of God at 2:00 PM with Bishop Raburne Wilson and Rev. Harold Ledford officiating. Interment followed at Lower Hightower Baptist Church Cemetery. Pallbearers were Ricky McClure, Roger McClure, Casey McClure,  Rex Coleman, Daniel Ledford, Mickey Denton and Scott Denton. Music was provided by Ryan Wilson. Banister Funeral Home in charge of arrangements.
