Mr. Walter Douglas Osborn, age 89, of Hiawassee, GA passed away on March 16,
2013 following an extended illness. He was born to the late William Newton and Katie
Jane (Mauldin) Osborn on September 17, 1923 in Hiawassee, GA. He was a retired
construction worker and also a retired school employee. He is survived by his
wife of sixty-four years, Mrs. Veta Mae Osborn, of Hiawassee, GA; daughter and
son-in-law, Shirley and Robert Hunter, of Hiawassee, GA; sons and
daughters-in-law, Dwayne and Vivian Osborn, of Hiawassee, GA; Daren and Missy
Osborn, of Hiawassee, GA; one sister, Ellen Holcomb, of Hiawassee, GA; six
grandchildren, Kevin Hunter, Ken Hunter, Jeffrey Osborn, Ryan Osborn, Kayla
Osborn, Tyler Osborn; five great grandchildren and a number of nieces and nephews also
survive. Funeral services were held on Tuesday, March 19, 2013 at 1:00 PM from
Macedonia Baptist Church with Rev. Josh Bennett officiating. Eulogy was given by
Gary Poteete. Music was provided by Bobby Taylor and Stanley and Karen Wood.
Pallbearers were: Chris Bradshaw, Cliff Bradshaw, Jr., Bryant Tipton, Dwight
Wilson, Burt Rogers and David Goodman. Honorary pallbearer was Randall Townley.
Military were given by the U.S. Navy. Interment was in Macedonia Baptist Church
cemetery. Banister Funeral Home of Hiawassee in charge of arrangements.
