William(Bill) Nathaniel Bacon Jr.

William (Bill) Nathaniel Bacon Jr., age 76 of Hiawassee, GA passed away Thursday March 12,2020. Bill was born May 26, 1943 to the late William N. and Evelyn(Floray) Bacon in Maryland. He was a member of Killian Hill Baptist Church in Lilburn, Georgia and worked for The Atlanta Journal Constitution for over 32 years. Bill loved and adored his wife Elaine, he asked her why she married him and she replied "because you made me laugh and you shined your shoes". His daughter Christy is thankful that her father modeled a "true example of how to love and what a loving relationship was like." In his younger days Bill enjoyed hunting, fishing, golf and traveling with his wife all over the world. Bill also had a witty sense of humor, loved music, especially blues and southern rock. All in all he was a devoted husband, loving father and a proud grandfather. 
He is preceded in death by his parents and son David Ryan Bacon.

He is survived in death by his wife of 53 years Elaine(Lowery)Bacon; daughter and son in law Christy and Thomas Darnell; grandchildren, Jonathan Bacon, Austin Darnell, Justin Bacon, Mason Darnell, Katie Bacon, Cohen Darnell, and Cora Darnell. 

In lieu of flowers donation are requested to your favorite charity or American Heart Association, Cancer Society or your local food bank. 

 
Visitation: Sunday, March 15, 2020 from 2:00-4:00 p.m. at Banister-Cooper Funeral Home.
Remembrance Service: Monday, March 16, 2020 at 11:00 a.m. at Abbey Chapel at Westview Cemetery with family and friends to speak.

Pallbearers- Jonathan Bacon, Austin Darnell, Justin Bacon, Mason Darnell, Guy Schwensen and Ron Hill. Honorary Pallbearer- Cohen Darnell.
